Add a Powerpoint Presentation to the Action Menu

A link to your Powerpoint Presentation is added to the Action Menu in a Content Module. The presentation opens in a new browser window.

If you do not have a Content Module to use for your Powerpoint Presentations:

  • Add a Content Module to your unit
  • Upload the Powerpoint HTML file to WebCT
  • Add the file contents to the Table of Contents (eg. Lecture 3 as shown below)

To add your PowerPoint HTML presentation as a link in a content module:

  • From your Content Module's Table of Contents
  • Click on the topic (an existing HTML page) related to your presentation (eg. Lecture 3).

  • Select Designer Options

  • Under the Action Menu heading select Links
  • From Options menu, select Create Link Category
  • Enter link category name eg Powerpoint Presentation

  • Click Add

Add the item to the Link Category:

  • Select Create Link Item
  • Select an existing category
  • Click the Browse Button
  • Select the first page of your presentation (eg Lectures/notes.html)
  • Select Open Link in New Window

  • Click the Add button

The link to your converted Powerpoint Presentation will now be added to the Action Menu. When the student clicks on the link, the presentation will open in a new window. Select Update Student View to make the presentation available to students.

To view the presentation from the student view:

  • Select the topic with the added link from the Table of Contents
  • Select the View button to see the page from the student point of view
